48kg charas seized in Mardan

Mardan - Narcotics Eradication Team (NET) and district police have recovered 48kg charas and arrested 49 drug pushers during the last one week, while a drug trafficker was arrested from the surrounding areas of a degree college on Monday.

Talking to journalists, District Police Officer Dr Zahidullah Khan said that raids were being conducted in various parts of Mardan district by NET and one alleged smuggler was arrested near Government Degree College, Garhikapura on Monday while the cops also recovered charas and ice from him.  

The DPO said that the cops have also been directed to keep an eye on educational institutions and their surroundings to stop drug abuse among students.

“Drugs are a threat to our youngsters and coming generations too. This is why teachers, students, parents and people other walks of life should cooperate with the police to eliminate drugs from society,” he added.

Besides drugs, the officer added, the police had also launched a campaign to discourage and prevent aerial firing. “Aerial firing challenges the writ of the state, this is why it is not tolerated across Mardan district and police stations concerned have been directed to go after the accused in aerial firing cases,” Dr Zahid added.
