KARACHI  - Some 20,000 policemen were deployed to ensure security and protection of Karachiites, who offered Eidul Azha prayers at 3,328 mosques, 297 Eidgahs and 332 Imambargahs. According to a police, spokesman, as per the directives of the Inspector General of Sindh Police, a contingency plan was prepared for the City to ensure protection of the people as well as to prevent any untoward incident.Under the arrangements, 5000 policemen have been assigned security duty at different public places that also included cattle markets and centres for collection of hides.Surveillance teams comprising policemen in plain clothes have also been put on round-the-clock duty at recreation centers, cattle markets and other congregational places. Cops deputed at pickets have been assigned the responsibility to conduct snap checking besides ensuring round the clock patrolling so as to avert any untoward incident.
