ISLAMABAD - The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) and All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) are scheduled to meet on Tuesday (today) to determine the new formula to fix the CNG prices in line with the Supreme Court order last week.
“The new formula on CNG prices would be presented in the Supreme Court on November 1st following the orders of the apex court”, said a representative of All Pakistan CNG Association while talking to TheNation on Monday.
He further said that they would respect and implement the decision to be made by Supreme Court on new CNG prices.
It might be mentioned here that the government had slashed the CNG prices by Rs 30 per kilogram on Thursday following the SC decision.
The apex court has ordered the regulatory authority to suspend the operating cost and difference ratio of petrol and CNG prices. The Supreme Court has also asked the government to de-link the prices of CNG from petroleum products in the international market. The CNG price was reduced to Rs 61.64 per kg from Rs 92.53 per kg after Supreme Court decision in Region I, which comprises Balochistan province, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and Potohar region.
Meanwhile, new price of CNG in Region II comprises Sindh and Punjab has been fixed at Rs 54.16 per kilogram from Rs 84.54 per kg after the apex court decision.
On the other hand, the transporters are still exploiting the helpless consumers by taking high fares despite massive cut in CNG prices of Rs 30 per kg.  The commuters who were returning from their native lands after celebrating the Eid-ul-Azha to their places of duties are paying high fares. The commuters have demanded of the government to reduce the fares of the public transport so that they could get some kind of relief.
