LAHORE – PML-N President Nawaz Sharif has said that his party cherishes the dream of making Pakistan a centre of peace and a strong and prosperous country.
Talking to party workers after offering Eid prayers at Jatti Umra, Raiwind, Nawaz said that Pakistan was a special gift of Allah Almighty and Pakistanis were a great nation. He maintained that, learning a lesson from past mistakes, we had to make Pakistan a great and strong nation as per the vision of the Quaid-e-Azam.
“The PML-N has the potential and commitment to take the country forward, and lead the nation to the zenith of prosperity and progress,” said Nawaz, adding that to make the country great and strong we need to think above self and imbibe the spirit of sacrifice.
Nawaz said we had to stand united to make Pakistan a centre of peace. “It is my cherished dream to once again see peace and prosperity in the country,” the PML-N president held. He also asked party workers to remember the poor and the needy while celebrating Eid. On the occasion, Nawaz also mixed with party workers and exchanged Eid greetings with them.
Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that the PPP, scared of the PML-N’s increasing popularity in Sindh, had become vindictive and had resorted to pre-poll rigging by registering baseless and false cases against party workers.
Nawaz strongly flayed the registration of a criminal case against Amir Bhutto, the son of PML-N leader Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, and said that involving him in a baseless and false case was the worst example of PPP’s political victimisation and vindictiveness.
Nawaz said that by involving Amir in a fake case, the federal government wanted to penalise him for joining the PML-N. He added that the Sindh government, on the instructions of the federal government, was using the state machinery to impede Amir from getting access to justice.
The PML-N president said that such undemocratic tactics and vindictive activities could not demoralise the party leaders and workers in Sindh. “The PML-N stands with Mumtaz and Bhutto in this hour of trial,” Nawaz said. He also demanded of the government to immediately withdraw fake cases against Amir Bhutto and other PML-N workers in Sindh.
To express solidarity with Mumtaz and Amir, Nawaz has also postponed an important meeting of PML-N leaders from Sindh scheduled to be held in Lahore on Wednesday and directed them to reach Larkana instead.
