MULTAN/ BAHAWALPUR / CHINIOT/ KHANEWAL/ PAKPATTAN/ HAFIZABAD/MANDI BAHAUDDIN/ NOWSHERA VIRKAN - Eidul Azha, major Muslim festival that takes place after Haj on 10 Zilhaj, was celebrated amid tight security here across Punjab with religious fervor and respect.

The poor and downtrodden cheered up as millions of faithful sacrificed animals including goats, cows, bullocks and camels, following the sunnah of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) to commemorate his sacrifice, and distributed sacrificial meat among them.

The citizens declared this Eid as the most expensive event of their lives. "Buying an animal had become a dream for us. The prices of sacrificial animals, vegetables, fruits, spices and other edibles have touched ever-high mark this year," lamented citizens while talking to this scribe.

The faithful thronged to Eidgahs, masjids and other open places to offer Eid prayers in the morning and sought Allah Almighty's benediction for progress and prosperity of the country as well as resolution of problems being faced by the Muslim Ummah. Huge gatherings of people attended Eid congregations in Multan, Bahawalpur and DG Khan divisions to revive great principles of Islamic brotherhood and fraternity. The Ulema highlighted the importance of sacrifice in way of Allah Almighty in their sermons and asked the followers of Islam to promote peace and harmony in society as enshrined in the glorious teachings of Islam.

Over 4,000 contingents were deployed to safeguard about 1,000 Eid congregations that took place across the district. In Multan city area, Eid prayers was offered at over 300 places including Markazi Eidgah, Jamia Darul Hadith Mohammadia, Jamia Khairul Madaris, Jamiaul Uloom, Markaz Ibnul Qasim, Jamia Rehmania, Gulistan Marriage Club, Masjid Shuhada Alkhair, Masjid Ashraf, Shrines of Hazrat Bahaudden Zakariya and Hazrat Shah Rukan-e-Alam, Jamia Anwarul Uloom and Ghausia Masjid. Special prayers were held for the security, solidarity, progress and prosperity of the country following Eid Namaz. Later on, the Muslims sacrificed animals to follow the sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).

Special security measures were adopted in the entire South Punjab region to thwart vicious designs of anti-social elements and maintain peace during this religious festival. The district police established special pickets at all sensitive places.

Cops in uniform and plan clothes had been deployed at all mosques, Eidgahs, shopping centers, grounds, parks, public places and sensitive installations while special branch officials carried out sweeping of all such place where Eid prayers were held before the prayers.

The SHOs of all police stations kept patrolling their respective areas throughout the Eid day. The security officials had been directed to keep strict vigil on persons moving around in suspicious condition while police also sought the help of locals of all areas for security purposes.

CITY CLEANLINESS: Contrary to the past, the sanitation staff of the solid waste department of city district government exhibited amazing performance as the sanitation workers kept city clean and removed intestines, stomachs and other remains of sacrificial animals well in time from the roadsides threw by the people.

Prices of eatables especially vegetables, fruits, spices, ghee, vegetable oil and rice registered record hike on eve of Eid.

The festival past peacefully as no untoward incident took place during three days of Eid.

BAHAWALPUR, Eidul Azha was celebrated here with religious zeal and fervor besides renewal of pledge to follow the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), and Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) in letter and spirit. The proceedings were held under peaceful conditions while the security arrangements were quite appreciable. The Eid congregations were held across the city while the main congregation was held at the Markazi Eidgah where thousands of faithful offered Eid prayers.

The Ulema in their sermons highlighted the philosophy and importance of the day and the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) for the blessings of Allah Almighty. They urged to follow the teachings of Islam side by side the sunnah of Hazarat Ibrahim (AS) and Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) to get rid of problems and make society peaceful and prosperous.

CHINIOT, Eidul Azha was celebrated with religious fervour and zeal. Muslims across the district celebrated the auspicious occasion with special prayers for the country and Muslim ummah. Eid prayers were arranged at hundreds of small and large places while the biggest congregation was held at Eidgah where thousands of faithful offered Eid prayers. Later, people made sacrifices of goats; sheep; cows; ox and camels in all areas. TMA made sufficient arrangements for disposing of animal wastes from city. 

KHANEWAL, Eidul Azha was celebrated across the district with great zeal and fervour and in commemoration of the supreme sacrifice offered by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and his son Hazrat Ismail in the fulfillment of the divine order. Eid prayers were offered at 512 places of all the four tehsils of the district wherein a large number of people offered special prayers for the prosperity of the country and unity of the Muslim Ummah. Meanwhile, the faithful offered sacrifices of animals in accordance with sunnah Hazrat Ibrahim. The main Eid congregation was held at markazi eidgah which was attended by DCO Nadeem Mehboob and other officials and politicians of the city.

PAKPATTAN, Eidul Azha was celebrated here in commemoration of the supreme sacrifice offered by Hazrat Ibrahim Khalilullah and his son Hazrat Ismail Zabiullah in fulfillment of the Divine order. Eid prayers were offered at Eidgahs‚ central mosques and open places. Special prayers were offered for the prosperity of the country and unity of the Muslim Ummah.

The main Eid congregation was held at Jamia Masjid Dargah Hazrat Baba Fareed (RA).

HAFIZABAD, Eidul Azha was celebrated in Hafizabad, Pindi Bhattian, Sukheke Mandi, Kaleke Mandi, Jalalpur Bhattian and other towns amid tight security. No untoward incident was reported from any place of the district. The Ulema in their sermons highlighted the significance of Sunnat-e-Ibraheemi and called upon their audience to prepare themselves for supreme sacrifice to seek the blessings of Almighty Allah. Special prayers for the unity of Muslims, glorification of Islam, solidarity and integrity of the country and revival of peaceful atmosphere in the country were offered.

MANDI BAHAUDDIN, like other parts of the country Eidul Azha was celebrated across the district with religious fervor. The festival started with Eid prayers. Main congregations were held at Central Mosque, Gosia Mosque, Eidgah and Imambargah. On the occasion, prayer leaders highlighted historical background of the event. They said this glorious religious festival was celebrated in commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) readiness to sacrifice his son Prophet Ismail (AS) for Allah.  They termed the auspicious occasion an opportunity to contemplate and think over ways to make this planet a better place to live. They said that Islam was religion of peace and terrorism had no room in it. The sermons followed by special prayers for stability and prosperity of the country.

NOWSHERA VIRKAN, like rest of the country, the holy festival of Eidul Azha was celebrated here with religious zeal and fervor. The day was started with special prayers in mosques for the sovereignty, integrity, solidarity of the country besides for unity of Muslim Ummah. Eidul Azha congregations were offered at more than 20 places in the city. After prayers, citizens sacrificed their animals following the sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).

LALAMUSA, thousands of faithful attired in colourful new clothes thronged to dozens of city mosques and open places to offer Eid prayers and renew their pledge to follow the teachings of Islam in letter and spirit. The main Eid congregations were held at Eidgah mosque, Markazi Imambargah, Barkat Park and Municipal Office ground. Ulema and Khateebs delivered special sermons in which they highlighted the significance of the day besides shedding light over actual sense and spirit of sacrifice. They also emphasized upon the faithful to follow the everlasting teachings of Holy Quaran and act upon sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) for a successful life as a true muslim in this world and hereafter.

Special prayers were also offered for the progress, prosperity and stability of country and glory of Muslim Ummah.

Federal Information Minister Qamer Zaman Kaira, PPP Punjab General Secretary Tanveer Ashraf Kaira, PML-N leaders Syed Noorul hasan, former district naib nazim Dr Javaid Raiz, former tehsil nazim Dr Syed Ehsanullah, Jamaat-e-Islami District Ameer Nawazish Ali Sh, PTI leaders Sh Hafeezullah and other political and social figures celebrated Eidul Azha in the city and exchanged greetings with workers and notables.

TOBA TEK SINGH, Eidul Azha was observed across the district with great religious fervor and festivity. Eid congregations were held at more than 1,000 places across the district wherein special prayers were offered for the prosperity and peace in the country. The biggest Eid congregation was held at the TMA Park. Tight security arrangements were made by the police to maintain peace.
