MULTAN - Former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that there is no political cell working in the presidency now. "It's not the era of the president of 1990 when the then president distributed money among politicians through agencies to strengthen IJI against the PPP," he added while talking to the media after offering Eid prayers at Darbar Moosa Pak Shaheed.

He said that the decision of Asghar Khan case proved that the previous elections were rigged by forming enormous electoral alliances against the PPP in the past. "The mandate of PPP was stolen," he added. He said that the upcoming elections would be transparent. He added that the faces of those stealing mandate with the help of agencies in 1990 had been unveiled today. Answering a question, he said that if the investigations were not launched against Mian Nawaz Sharif in light of decision of Asghar Khan Case, it would render Supreme Court verdict worthless.

He said that when he was sentenced to six-second punishment by the seven-member bench of Supreme Court, the PML-N made lot of noise in the house and demanded his resignation.

"Even they declared that "I am no more a prime minister and announced to bar my entry into the parliament." And today the time has proved their 1990 mandate was a stolen thing," he maintained. He said that he sacrificed his prime ministership for the sake of democracy. "I am proud of my sacrifice as today democracy, parliament and institutions are stable because of it," he added.

To a query, he said that the decision regarding Waziristan operation would be made by the political leadership and masses. When asked whether the motive behind operation was to postpone elections, he added that the polls took place even during wars as two elections were held in Afghanistan during war.

About Malala case, he said that the attack on her was terrorism and it was condemnable. He reiterated that Saraiki Province would be set up before elections as the boundaries and name of the province would be finalized soon.
