The district police claimed to have recovered stolen motorcycle, snatched cattle, illegal arms, drugs, money, and arrested 70 proclaimed offenders, 28 judicial fugitives and 93 other suspects wanted in various murder and robbery cases.

Addressing a press conference, District Police Officer Syed Muntazir Mehdi said that the police also sealed 10 gambling dens and recovered over Rs9.2 million. He said that Shahkot police arrested Abdul Sattar who alleged killed her wife Mumtaz Bibi who was a Glasgow-national. The police also arrested Ishtiaq Mehmood, Kashif and Iqbal, and recovered 3,500 pounds and gold ornaments.

Besides, the spolice have busted Imtiaz Papu gang, Amir gang, Ali gang, Suhail gang, Naveed Kana gang ,Rashed alias Sheda gang, Fani gang, Sayen gang, and recovered 92-tola gold ornaments, nine stolen bikes, 17 cattle, 20 cellphone, a laptop and huge quantity of illegal weapons, drugs and liquor, he added. Police also arrested a gang which was wanted in a murder case of police constable of Hafizaabad.

He directed all the police officials to resolves people’s problems by improving performance and taking actions against criminals. Protection of life and property of citizens is the foremost obligation of the police and strenuous effort would be made to purge the district of crime.

“Being public servant, we are bound to use all our energy to overcome crimes. Officials should listen to aggrieved people patiently and remove their grievances swiftly,” he said. “There should be people-friendly environment in the police offices so that people could frankly talk about their problems and not hesitate from getting a case registered against wrongdoers. Crimes like gambling, prostitution and drug peddling have reduced to a great extent,” he said and urged the public and media to cooperate with the police for elimination of crime.
