Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Vice Chairman Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has disclosed that his party is going to launch a peaceful protest against price hike by establishing a camp at Chowk Manzoorabad from November 1st.
Addressing the participants of a meeting held to review arrangements for the camp here on Tuesday, he declared that the PTI would not only raise voice for the rights of the poor public but also come into the ground practically in terms of protest drive from November 1. He added that horrible increase in petroleum prices, power tariff and rates of daily-use items completely crushed the poor people. He maintained that instead of offering relief to the masses crushed by price hike during previous regime, the incumbent government also pushed forward the policies of previous government and put even more burden on citizens’ shoulders. He claimed that the PML-N leadership forgot all the promises it made with the masses during election campaign. “Today the government acting upon the policy to eliminate the poor instead of eliminating poverty,” he alleged.
He said that the government also disappointed the youth because of its poor policies and complete failure. He declared that the PTI would not leave masses alone and raise voice at all platforms for their rights.
Actiopn sectarian hatred-mongers: Speakers at a meeting held to review security arrangements for the month of Muharram demanded strict action against those spreading sectarian hatred and foolproof security arrangements here on Tuesday.
Addressing the meeting, Coordinator Ittehad Bainul Muslimeen Prof Abdul Ghafoor Rashid said that the nation needed inter-sect harmony more than ever. He urged upon the followers of all schools of thoughts to respect others’ faith while sticking to their own. Coordinator to Chief Minister on Auqaf Haji Habib Ullah Bhatti said that those distributing hate literature and doing wall chalking would be dealt with iron hand. He added that the time had come to identify the enemy that entered our ranks and wanted to destabilise the country.
Other speakers stressed the need for implementation of code of ethics in letter and spirit during Muharram. They demanded strict action against the terrorists, besides asking the clerics to exhibit unity during Muharram. The said that the country was faced with serious issues like sectarianism, lingualism and terrorism, adding that some big powers hatched conspiracies against Pakistan to destabilise it.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Home Department has been learnt to have issued order for constitution of Security Response Committees (SRCs) at town level in entire province. Sources said that the heads of the committees would either be the concerned MNA or MPA. Similarly, town administrators or TMOs, representatives of SP Special Branch, concerned ASPs, representatives of Anjuman Tajiran will be the members of the proposed committees. Sources said that the committees would be given the task of making security arrangements at public places like markets and other important spots. The committees will carry out surveys of all sensitive places, arrange record and install CCTV cameras at the entry and exit points of their concerned cities.
