The Education Department has set up two schools in tents for nomads at Haroonabad to increase enrolment of children in schools under a Punjab government programme.

Executive District Officer Chaudhry Sardar Ahmad said that the department was trying to educating the parents of nomads and slum dweller about the importance of education. They remained successful in their efforts as the people had agreed to send their kids to schools. In order to impart education to the neglected children at their doorsteps, the two tent schools were established for 225 children, he added.

He further said that the education department was providing them with uniform and books. Efforts for the establishment of a third such school at Faqirwali is underway, he concluded.
