ISLAMABAD – Pakistani players Aqeel Khan, Abid Ali Akbar and Samir Iftikar registered victories in the first round of the ITF Futures singles event played in Antalya, Turkey on Tuesday. Aqeel Khan defeated Halit Berke Mangaloglu in a tough battle. Aqeel won the first set 7-5, breaking ninth game of the opponent and won the second set 6-4, breaking the second serve. Aqeel has to face top seed and world number 210, British Liam Broady. In the second singles, Abid Akbar crushed Ftih Taha Erun 6-0, 6-0, while Samir Iftlkhar took some time to beat Vadim Alekseenko. Samir won the first set 6-3 but Vadim bounced back and took the second set 6-4. Samir suddenly found his lost touch and played aggressive game which helped him win the set 6-3 to book a place in the second round.
