Rawalpindi - The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) carried out five operations in different parts of country and recovered 3.7 tons of narcotics besides rounding up four smugglers and seizing two vehicles, informed ANF HQ Spokesman Sami Ullah yesterday. The value of the seized narcotics was told to be nearly Rs20 billion in international market, he said.
According to him, ANF carried out five operations across the country and seized drugs comprised 3.6 ton hashish and 119kg heroin.
During the operations, he said ANF also arrested four persons and seized two vehicles.
He added that ANF Quetta on pursuance of an intelligence report carried out raid in general area Mangochar, District Kallat and recovered 3218 kg hashish, which was concealed at a deserted site located in foothills of the mountains.
Yet in another operation, ANF Balochistan acting on source information carried out a successful operation in general area of Nalient, District Gawadar and recovered 149 kg hashish. As per initial reports, the drug consignment was placed at cache site for handing over from one narcotics gang to another.
ANF Karachi Road Check Team intercepted a Hino Truck No TKV-682 near new Quetta Durani Hotel, Super Highway Karachi. Detailed search of the vehicle resulted in recovery of 280 Kg hashish concealed in secret cavities of the vehicle.
Two accused namely Muhammad Ramzan and Wazeer Ali residents of Qamber were taken into custody. As per initial investigation the drugs were being smuggled to Karachi for local consumption.
ANF Karachi Road Check Team on pursuance of information intercepted a Car No JL-0599 at Gulistan-e-Maymar, Malir, Karachi and recovered eight Kg heroin concealed in secret cavities of the vehicle.
An accused driver Muhammad Qasim, resident of Karachi was arrested on the spot. Initial investigation revealed that more narcotics were dumped at another place located in the area of Gulshan-e-Maymar, Karachi.
ANF party raided the pointed location and during search recovered 52 Kg Heroin.
ANF Container Terminal Team during routine profiling intercepted a container having narcotics. Narcotics was concealed in wheels of power press machine and intended to smuggle abroad.
On thorough checking, 59 Kg Heroin was recovered from 4x wheels. An accused named Asif Iqbal resident of Karachi has also been arrested.
All cases have been registered at respective ANF Police stations and further investigation is underway.
