BBH marks World Heart Day

Rawalpindi - The World Heart Day was celebrated in the Benazir Bhutto Hospital with the pledge to reinforce public awareness activities for prevention of heart diseases.
In this connection, a public awareness walk was held at the BBH which was participated by Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Asif Qadir Mir, Head of Cardiology Department Prof Fayyaz Shah, Consultant Cardiologist Dr Mehdi Hassan Raja, doctors, Para-medical and nursing staff and employees participated in the event. The event was organized with the cooperation of Pharma EVO.
Addressing on the occasion, Dr Asif Qadir Mir underlined the need for crating awareness to educate the masses about precautionary measures so that it could be prevented. Professor Fayyaz Shah said that heart attack is the main cause of mortality in the world and in Pakistan it is one of main cause of death. He said the situation remained the same as the figure would be doubled in next twenty years.
Consultant Cardiologist Dr Mehdi Hassan Raja said that in Pakistan, 80 thousand persons die every year due to heart diseases. He said that we can avert this situation by changing our life style and making ourselves habitual of daily walk and exercise. He also termed smoking, obesity, diabetes, cholesterol main reasons of heart attack. Muhammad Shoaib Butt Senior Area Manager Evo also addressed on the occasion.
