Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has stopped the implementation of Federal Kissan Relief Package, according to Waqt News. ECP declared it against the rules of election campaign.

In a statement ECP spokesman Babar Yaqoob has stated that ECP has banned three sections of the package till December 3.

“It includes 2% reduction in interest rate, Rs. 5,000/acre for farmers and price reduction in wheat and cotton sacks,” he said.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had announced this package a few weeks back. The opposition parties called it a political stunt before local body elections in Punjab and Sindh. The package was being challenged. ECP saved its decision yesterday after hearing the federal point of view.
