The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested 24 ‘outlaws’ involved in human trafficking and recovered fake passports and others documents during separate raids on Tuesday.
The FIA teams, in its ongoing efforts against human trafficking, raided offices of travel agents in various areas of Gujrat, Gujranwala and Multan districts.
The agency arrested four human traffickers during the crackdown. Fake passports, CNICs and other documents were recovered from their possession. The FIA has launched the crackdown on the directives of Interior Minister against elements involved in human trafficking and illegally sending people abroad. The Minister has said that human traffickers exploit innocent people, luring to send them abroad, for making big money. He declared that all such elements deserve no leniency.
In Multan, a special team of FIA conducted raids on travel agencies in different areas of Multan in search of human smugglers and arrested over 20 persons besides recovering laptops, receipt books, passports and foreign currency here on Tuesday, sources disclosed.
The team was led by the Deputy Director of FIA Shahzad Babar and it conducted raids in New Multan, Shah Rukan-e-Alam, Abdali Arcade, Bosan Road and Katchehry Road areas. Sources said that the FIA carried out the action against human smugglers following orders from interior Ministry to launch action against illegal tour operators. FIA sources said that the crackdown would continue till arrest of all illegal tour operators.
