LAHORE: Central Leader of PML-N, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, is quite optimistic about the defeating the PTI candidate in Lahore by-election on October 11 with huge margin.

“The PML-N candidate Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will easily sweep the election in NA-122 with a convincing margin,” said Hamza while taking to journalists after inaugurating the party office in Icchra today.

The PTI Chairman Imran Khan is due to participate in the campaign of his party candidate Aleem Khan by way of addressing two public meetings in the constituency before the election day. Hamza is very much expected to counter the campaign of Khan since a restriction has been imposed by the Lahore High Court on Ministers and the government functionaries from taking part in the campaign.

Hamza said the masses have rejected the ‘politics of lies’ of Imran Khan . That is why Imran Khan has escaped the election arena, Hamza Shahbaz said alluding to the fact Ayaz had routed Khan in the same constituency in the May 2013 general elections and he had shirked taking part in the by-poll. In support of his candidate Hamza said he (Ayaz) preferred to move the court of the electorate instead of court of law notwithstanding the fact no accusation of rigging stood against him in the Tribunal decision of the last month. The victory of Ayaz in the by-polls will be a befitting reply to those who leveled rigging allegations on him, he went on to say.

Replying a query on alleged misappropriation of billions or rupees in Nandipur power plant, Hamza said, third party audit has been ordered about spending on the project and everything will be clear soon. However, he overruled any corruption about the use of funds of the project and said there may be some mismanagement. He also lauded the government steps which factored controlling the worsening peace situation in Karachi.
