LAHORE - National Highways & Motorway Police made the transport owners to pay back the passengers over Rs1.4 million overcharged from them during Eid days.

DIG Mirza Faran Baig told the media on Tuesday that the central zone returned an amount of Rs 1,414,030 to 8, 489 passengers and imposed fine to PSVs vehicles for overcharging.

The Motorways Police has initiated stern action against buses, coaches and other PSVs in Lahore, Manga Mandi, Pattoki, Sahiwal, Multan, Okara, Khanewal, Lodhran, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan, and other major cities on the complaints of overcharging. They have taken all possible steps to reimburse extra fare to the passengers. The passengers have appreciated the NH&MP’s initiative and stern action against overcharging, a spokesman said. The citizens also acknowledge the motorway police action against the public transport vehicles involved in overcharging, he added.

“Also the performance of Motorway Police Help Line 130 was fabulous as they facilitated thousands of passengers in distress and in the case of overcharging,” he told the media.–PR
