Women among 17 perish in accidents, mishaps

At least 17 persons including three women and two children were killed in various road accident and incidents of violence over the past 24 hours.
In Sialkot, three members of a family were killed in fatal road accident between a motorcycle and an overloaded tractor-trolley near Qila Kalarwala, Pasrur tehsil on Tuesday.
Reportedly, local trader Muhammad Anwar, his wife Hazur Bibi and their nephew Ali Raza were coming towards Pasrur on a motorcycle. In the meanwhile, an overloaded tractor-trolley hit the motorcycle, killing all its riders on the spot. The Qila Kalarwala Police have registered a case against fleeing driver of the tractor-trolley. The police also shifted the dead bodies to Pasrur THQ Civil Hospital for autopsy.
In Kasur, six people including a patrolling police constable and a woman were killed in different road accidents across the district.
A team of Highway patrolling police including Mohammad Kashif were guard a picket near Noorpur Canal on Depalpur Road. In the meanwhile, a speeding milk-laden van struck against the police van after hitting a donkey cart.
Resultantly, constable Kashif and one Liaquat Ali died on the spot while owner of donkey and another police cop Masoom Ali sustained serious injuries.
In another road accident, a tractor collided with a coaster in Narah Nal area, killing Lesco employees - Nadeem and Khalid Shah on the spot and injuring several others who have been admitted to hospital.
Similarly a motorcyclist Mohammad Saleem rammed into a passenger bus on Raiwind Road and died instantly whereas a woman was struck by a rashly-driven motorbike near village Dolleywala and died on the spot. The police have registered separate cases.
On the other hand, one Ashiq Ali was murdered near Darbar Sheikh Ilam Din when he forbade the accused from spitting on him.
According to deceased’s brother Ismat Ali, his brother was going back home when accused Irfan and his accomplices spit paan (beetles) on him which stained his clothes. Upon complaining, the accused stabbed him with knives and killed him on the spot. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
In Chunian, three persons were killed and 10 others sustained severe injuries in a road mishap on Changa Manga Road on Tuesday.
The accident occurred when a speeding passenger coach rammed into a tractor-trolley in Chunian. As a result, three persons were killed and ten others injured.
According to hospital sources, three injured are still in critical condition and have been referred to Lahore.
In Sheikhupura, two persons including a hostess were killed and 20 others sustained injuries in collision between a passenger coach and truck.
The accident took place on Motorway near Khanqah Dogran on Tuesday.
The Islamabad-bound passenger coach was on the way from Lahore. Near Khanqah Dogran, the coach driver lost control of the vehicle while overtaking a truck due to speeding. As a result it collided with the truck, killing two persons including the hostess on the spot. About 20 other passengers sustained multiple injuries, five of them critical, who were shifted to DHQ Hospital Sheikhupura. The critically injured were rushed to a Lahore hospital. The Khanqah Dogran Police started investigation into the incident.
In Bahawalnagar, a man and his son died in a road accident in Farid Kot area of Chak 110 in Tehsil Chishtian on Tuesday.
The collision took place between a speeding rickshaw and motorcycle. Khair Muhammad and his son Muhammad Asad sustained serious injuries. They were shifted to Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead.
The bodies were handed over to the family after medico-legal formalities.
The police have registered a case and launched investigation.

Two siblings die in accident, another from snakebite

Two siblings died in a road accident and a farmer died from snakebite in different areas of Sahiwal the other day.
Two siblings - a youth and his sister - died and their father injured when a motorcycle was hit by a speeding car. The accident occurred near Dyowala Banglow Pul canal on Sahiwal-Arifwala Road. The accident took place when Manzoor Ahmed, a resident of Chak 44/EB, along with his son Amjad and daughter Faryal, was going to Arifwala on a motorcycle. In the meantime, a speeding car, coming from the opposite direction, hit the motorcycle, killing Amjad on the spot. Faryal, 18, and Manzoor sustained injuries and were taken to DHQ Hospital Sahiwal where she also succumbed to her injuries. Manzoor was admitted to the hospital. The police reached the spot and started investigation.
On the other hand, a farmer Ghulam Farid died from snakebite. Ghulam Farid, 28, a resident of Chak Mardar, was working in field when a snake bitten him. He was taken to hospital where he died. Two other persons - Shaukat, 60, of Gala Mandi and Khalid, 20, of Chak 57/5L - were also bitten by snake. They were shifted to DHQ hospital where their condition is stated to be critical.
