NOWSHERA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak has said that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a meeting of all parties conference (APC) had agreed to declare western route the shortest one and part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) but now we are receiving mix signals whether the western route was part of the CPEC or not. He said that if it is not part of the CPEC it will be the violation of the PM’s earlier commitment that consented to the all parties conference for making the western route the part of CPEC.

Talking to media persons after addressing two receptions during his day long visit to Nowshera on Thursday, Pervez Khattak asked the federal government to sit with the Chinese government and make western route part of the CPEC otherwise it would not achieve the goals behind the CPEC. He called upon the federal government to make western route a part of the CPEC as per its commitment. “We are not getting proper information about CPEC that will create a problem”. He said that under the CPEC, all provinces would get equal number of projects adding that the western route was of strategic importance to the provinces of KP and Balochistan and both provinces are stakeholders to it. He said if the promise was not kept, his government would agitate against it. He said that the Prime Minister should convene all Parties conference and convince them otherwise his government would convene an all parties conference and form the future course of action, he added.

The CM said that the federal government approved a link of motorway from Jhand to Kohat and expressway and rail track from Peshawar to Dera Ismail Khan. The federal government should make a candid decision in this regard. He said these were the projects for which he struggled and approved them and these were of prime importance in the backdrop of CPEC. The failure of federal government to provide resources for these projects would kill the objectives behind the CPEC. He said his government was the custodian of the interest of the province and therefore he would not rest till the fulfillment of the objectives behind the CPEC. He said the federal government agreed to certain projects under the CPEC if these were not fulfilled then his government would convene all Parties conference to press the federal government to make western route part of the CPEC. He would not compromise for securing and safeguarding the provincial rights.

Pervez Khattak reminded that he negotiated different projects for the province with the federal government and got them approved that included Motorway link between Kohat and Jhand and a Railway track and Expressway from Peshawar to DI Khan. He asked the federal government to provide resources for these projects which had been reflected in the federal PSDP. He asked the PM to convene all Parties Conference to convince the stakeholders about the western route of the CPEC and the standing of the federal government on it. Failure on the part of federal government would force the provincial government to convene an all Parties Conference and evolve a consensus of all political parties on the western route of the CPEC.

The CM said that the Raiwind rally would prove to be a referendum against the ruling elite. Prime Minister Nawaz sharif was accountable to the nation and if he is not corrupt he must prove it adding that Imran Khan would continue to expose the corrupt. He said the aim behind the Ehtesab rally was to get the people rid of the corrupt rulers. PTI would demonstrate its street power against all wrong doings and corruption in the country, he added. He said that rallies from Malakand and western districts were taken out today and the rally from Nowshera, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi and Hazara division would reach tomorrow.

Pervez Khattak said that the border management has eased out the situation in his province and added that Pakistan and Afghanistan both wanted the peaceful return of Afghan Refugees to contribute to the reconstruction of their country, he concluded.
