Five children burned to death in Mirpurkhas orphanage

MIRPURKHAS: Five children were burnt to death in Mirpurkhas after a fire broke out in an orphanage late Thursday night.

According to details, the incident occurred at an orphanage, operated by Baitul Maal, located in city’s Liaquat Town locality. The fire broke out in a room located on the ground floor in which 11 children were present.

According to an eyewitness, the fire was caused by a child spraying perfume on a mosquito coil.

Baitul Maal District Officer said that the fire brigade was immediately called after the incident. However, by the time the flames were put to rest, five children had fallen victim to the incident.

Six children were also injured in the incident and were shifted to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The administration of the orphanage claims that the fire broke out due to short circuit, the police however, suspect negligence.
