islamabad - Minister In-charge of the Capital Administration and Development Division Dr. Tariq Fazal Chudhary Thursday informed the Senate that concrete measures were being taken to overcome water shortage in the federal capital.
Speaking during question-hour in the Senate, the minister said currently residents of the federal capital were being supplied water from Simli Dam which was not enough to cater required need.
Thus, tubewells were being installed to overcome water shortage in addition to pursuing a plan to supply water from Ghazi Bharotha channel. The Minister also said roads of the Islamabad sectors were being refurbished, adding strict measures would be taken against encroachments at those roads especially at business centers of the capital.
He said policy with regard to slum areas which had been categorized, was being implemented in letter and spirit and compensation in this regard was paid after pursuing a transparent procedures.
However, he said that the payment of the affectees of the villages including Model Village Kurri & Rehara, Mouza Noon, Badhana, Sheikhpur and Jhangi Sayedan (Sector H-16). Mouza Noon, Kot Kolian, Bajnial and lakho (Sector I-17) could not be released due to non-availability of funds.
Replying to another question, the minister said during the last two years 4,650 electrical and mechanical related complaints of Sector G 6/1-4 were received, out of which 4,440 were attended. The services wing received 13,953 of complaints related to Sewerage and Welding/repair, etc. and out of which 13,852 of complaints were disposed off.
The E&M Wing of the CDA received a total 25 complaints registered in Sector G-6/1-4 Inquiry related to replacement of fans, burners etc. could not be attended due to non-availability of funds, adding the same shall be attended during current financial year 2016-17 subject to availability of funds.
The Services Wing 101 complaints related to general repair were pending due to shortage of funds and non availability of store material.
The E&M Wing received Rs 25.77 million and its expenditure stood at Rs24.37 million during 2015-16.
