ISLAMABAD - Former International Cricket Council (ICC) president Zaheer Abbas Thursday said that the morale of the green caps is all pumped-up after 3-0 victory in the Twenty20s and it can whitewash Windies in the ODI series as well.

Pakistan team has already whitewashed West Indies in the three-match T20 series. The green caps thrashed West Indies by eight wickets in the 3rd T20 to clinch the T20 series while in the first and second T20, Pakistan defeated West Indies by nine wickets and 16 runs respectively. Now Pakistan will play three ODIs and as many as Tests against West Indies. The ODI series will be played from September 30 while the Test series will begin from October 13.

Asian Bradman Zaheer Abbas said green caps should not at all had any problem in beating West Indies in the ODI series as the players have already proved their metal in T20s. "The players put up a fantastic show in the T20 series therefore hopes are very high in the ODI series," he said.

Zaheer said T20 Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed was doing extremely well in the shorter format of the game therefore the expectations are getting high from him. He also praised the Pakistani spinners and said that spinners would play a vital role in the ODI series.

Talking about the national team's poor performance in the ODI series against England, Zaheer said youngsters needed to be given more chances in the ODI series against West Indies. "You cannot change the whole team or captain at once. We need to give them time and the captain should learn from the previous mistakes," he said.

Speaking about Shahid Afridi's farewell match, Zaheer said it was a matter between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the all-rounder. Responding to a question about Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Anurag Thakur's statement regarding no question of playing cricket with Pakistan, Zaheer said the day was not far when all countries would tour Pakistan to play a cricket series.
