LAHORE -  The department of cardiology and business development of Shalamar Hospital has celebrated World Heart Day.

According to a press release issued on yesterday, different activities were arranged including awareness walk, special awareness lecture regarding heart diseases and free medical camp.

Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences Chief Executive Brig (r) Anis Ahmed and Principal Shalamar Medical and Dental College Prof Zahid Bashir graced the occasion. The participants of walk displayed banners and play cards that included information about preventive measures related to heart diseases.

Informative literature was also distributed to the general public during the camp patients were provided by different free medical tests i e blood pressure checks up, sugar test, cholesterol test, ECG. Special 50 percent discount was also offered on ECHO cardiograph to the patients.

Dr Kamran Babar (head of cardiology department), Dr Ammar Hameed (head of cardiology surgery), Dr Irfan Ali Syed (GM, Business Development) and cardiac physician Dr Naresh Kumar delivered informative lectures on its causes, effects, treatment and control Options.

Use of unbalanced food and lack of exercises is the major cause of heart disease. Controlling blood pressure we will be able to control heart diseases, experts suggested.
