LAHORE - Former Pakistan Navy striker Amir Hamza once again showed his quality of changing the complexion of the game when PEL struck twice in second session to beat PTV 2-0 in Pakistan Premier Soccer League 2008 clash at Lahore's Railway Stadium. Meanwhile, four-times champion Army neutralized the deficit twice to draw 2-2 with PMC at Faisalabad's PMC Ground. PMC broke the ice in the 10th minute through smart winger Tanveer ul Hassan   but their joy was short-lived as Samundri-born Olympian Jaffar Ali hit back within two minutes for the soldiers. PMC took the lead again in the 44th minute through midfielder Muneer Ahmed. The Faisalabad outfit kept their lead till interval and 86th minute. But three minutes from time, Faisalabad-born Muhammad Faryyad gave sigh of relief to Army's bench as tense match ended 2-2. Army managed 16 points from 9 games while PMC had 13 points from 12 games. PEL managed their fourth win in their 12 match. After a scoreless first half, that produced sub-standard soccer under light drizzle, PEL  picked up the pace following the arrival of two substitutes Ameer Hamza and Muzaffar Ali. PTV, who suffered their ninth straight defeat today, failed to cope with tricky surges of Hamza who went into the field in the 71st minute. Two minutes later he opened the right flank build up, by turning the ball to striker Asmat Ullah and went up into area to do the rest with angular shot past keeper Muhammad Rafiq, after off-the-ball commitment by Muzaffar Ali and Awais. It was Hamza's first goal of the event. Hardly one minute had elapsed when Asmat Ullah struck the second. He was floored inside the area but Referee Waheed Murad signal Play-on. Asmat picked himself up to drive the ball. PTV's stopper Muhammad Jamil cleared the ball off the line but Assistant Referee Asif bin Younas signaled goal giving lot of happiness to Lahore-based team.     Sunday (31 August) Fixture PIA v HBL ( Korangi Baloch Stadium, Karachi), Results (Saturday matches) PMC Ground, Faisalabad PMC 2 (Tanveer Ul Hassan10, Muneer Ahmed 44) Army 2 (Jaffar Ali 12, Muhammad Faryyad 87) Railway Stadium, Lahore PEL 2 ( Amir Hamza 73, Asmat Ullah 74) PTV 0.
