Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior Ministry Rehman Malik said Sunday military operation launched in tribal areas was the last available option. Addressing a joint press briefing after meeting with JI chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed in Lahore, he said government have offered talks to the unarmed groups. "We intend to maintain law and order situation in tribal areas, he said, adding operation has been halted before the holy month of Ramadan." Malik urged on the need of joint efforts to get rid of extremism and terrorism from the country. "Qazi Hussain Ahmed has been given briefing regarding ongoing operation in tribal areas," he added.
