Lahore High Court has reserved verdict on a writ petition with regard to payment of fees to American lawyers of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani scientist detained in United States under terror charges. Deputy Attorney General contended in the court that Dr. Aafia was wanted to Afghanistan and United States and she was arrested with arms in possession. DIG informed the court that the trial against Aafia in US court will open on October 19 and three American lawyers have been hired with fees of US$ 5000 to each to appear in the case. The court was also informed that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui was not in illegal custody but the US government has initiated legal proceedings against her, The government of Pakistan is trying to bring her back to home, the government counsel added.
