Words just can't do Serena justice

NEW YORK (AFP) - Reigning US Open champion Serena Williams has a book coming out Tuesday. The 11-time Grand Slam champion enjoys writing a blog and sending Twitter messages. Just don't expect her to say very much.Williams refused to talk about the fact she has to settle for second in US Open seedings and world rankings to Dinara Safina even though the Russian has no Slam titles while Williams won Wimbledon and the Australian Open in 2009. "I don't talk about that any more. I'm sorry," Williams said Saturday. "I think we should talk about something else. It's more exciting, more new." And much less controversial than her comments last month after winning the Wimbledon crown when she ridiculed the WTA rankings and mocked Safina."If you hold three Grand Slam titles maybe you should be number one, but not on the WTA Tour obviously," Williams said at Wimbledon. "My motivation is maybe just to win another Grand Slam and stay number two. It's shocking."I'd rather definitely be number two and hold three Grand Slams in the past year than be number one and not have any."So does Williams regret those remarks?"I'm very excited to have won Wimbledon, Australia and this tournament last year. I don't live with regret," Williams said. "Any other questions that are not about number one?" Williams did say she wants to win this US Open title more than she did Wimbledon. "Yeah I won it but it seems like a lifetime ago already. It has just been such a whirlwind," Williams said. Asked the strongest point in her game, she could not pick just one. "I think my strongest point is that I have an all-around game," Williams said. "I can serve well, return well, volley if I ever decide to come to the net." You also will not get her started when it comes to talking about her weaknesses or what areas she is trying to improve upon in workouts, lest her words come back to haunt her by providing opponents something to exploit. "I don't talk about my weakness," she said. "That's kryptonite thinking." The 27-year-old American would much rather talk about her new book, "On the Line", coming soon to a bookstore near you. "My focus right now is on the ball and I'm excited to have a book coming out," Williams said. "It's almost surreal. I never thought I would get to this point in my life and have an opportunity to write. I love writing. "To have a book coming out is just beyond cool. I think it will motivate me to want to do really well here."'
