ISLAMABAD Deputy Chairman Senate, Mir Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali, has observed that the catastrophic floods wreaked havoc across district Jaffarabad due to breaches in Tori bund. He said that the district had been divided into three parts and severe hardships were being faced in the relief and rescue operation. He expressed these views at the Parliament House here on Monday. He said that the provincial government of Balochistan had no experience in dealing with such a situation due to which the relief activities were being delayed continuously. He said that President Asif Ali Zardari was taking keen interest in the relief and rehabilitation of people of district Jaffarabad like other parts of the country. Presidents attention towards Jaffarabad is highly remarkable, Jamali observed. Deputy Chairman stated that the calamity was worst and coordinated efforts were required to expedite the relief and rehabilitation work. He said that the civil society organisations must be given access to far off areas and all should join hands to help those who are in trouble. Jamali pointed out that the infrastructure has been badly damaged and the road network destroyed. He demanded of the Chief Justice to take notice of the breaches in Tori bund which has resulted in colossal losses.
