LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Monday sought educational record of MNA Rana Zahid from Balochistan University till September 24 on a petition seeking his disqualification on allegations of having bogus BA degree. Petitioner Hameed Sabbir filed the election petition in the Lahore High Court contending Rana Zahid contested election from NA-166, Lodheran, by submitting a bogus BA degree to the Election Commission of Pakistan. He said the respondent won the election from the said constituency but he suffered pre-election disqualification because of a bogus degree. He said he was dishonest person and he did not fulfill the criteria set by the article 62 of the constitution which says an elected representative should be sadaq and amen (honest and trustworthy). The petitioner submitted he got a BA degree from Balochistan University by unlawful means only to meet the requirement of the election. After hearing arguments of the petitioners counsel the court directed the controller examinations Balochistan University to produce record of MNA Rana Zahid on September 24, next date of hearing.
