LAHORE-Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has directed the officials of Zakat & Ushr as well as Law Departments to finalize the proposed draft of amendments in the existing Zakat & Ushr Laws at the earliest. He stated this while presiding over the meeting of the committee on new Zakat Laws in the wake of 18th Amendment in the Constitution held at 90-SQA. The meeting was attended by Secretary Zakat & Ushr and high ranking officials of Law, Zakat & Ushr departments. He said that after the 18th Amendment, most of the powers stood devolved to the provinces regarding Zakat funds. He directed to take necessary steps for the transparent distribution of Zakat and Ushr. Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa directed that final draft of amendments in the Zakat and Ushr Laws should be presented earliest. He said that such changes should be made in the rules of business regarding collection as well as distribution of Zakat and Ushr funds should be ensured in transparent manners. The committee reviewed on the recommendation of sub-committee consisting of Law and Zakat departments officials and the participant of the meeting approved the proposed changes in the existing Laws for final draft of amendments. PML-N sent 8 relief trucks PML-N has sent eight trucks of relief goods to the flood affectees of Dera Allah Yar and five trucks to Dera Ismail Khan on Monday. According to a press statement of PML-Ns Relief and Rehabilitation Committee, PML-N MNA Saud Majeed donated the relief goods for Dera Allah Yar. The party MNAs hailing from Rawalpindi donated the relief goods for Dera Ismail Khans flood affectees. PPP sends relief ITEMS The office bearers and workers of PPPs Lahore organisation have so far despatched relief goods to the affected areas worth Rs 10 million, while three truck loads of relief items would be sent in next few days, claimed PPPs City President, Ch Asghar Gujjar after chairing a meeting of partys executive committee here on Monday. The meeting was held at PPPs central relief camp set up at The Mall to review relief activities of the party leaders and workers. Chairman, Endowment Property Fund, Syed Asif Hashmi also attended the meeting as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Ch Asghar Gujjar said that Lahore organisation would also send Eid package to the flood affectees by collecting more donations. He said that PPPs relief camp, set up on July 2, would continue its relief work during Eid days as well. He also thanked Asif Hashmi for donating relief goods for the affected families.
