KARACHI - Four people including a police officer were gunned down in different incidents of target killing here on Thursday.
An Assistant Sub Inspector was shot dead near Railway Colony within the remit of Mithader police station. Police said that deceased Phool Zaib, 40, a resident of Sultanabad deployed in Mithader police station was on routine patrolling when three gunmen intercepted him and shot him dead. Police said that the deceased cop offered resistance and also shot wounded two assailants before being shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he succumbed to his injures during treatment.
Police found a shot dead body of young man near Crown Cinema within the remit of Kalri police station. Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital where family of deceased identified him as Ikram Baloch. Police said that the deceased was tortured before culprits shot him and threw his body at an abandoned place. Police suspect that the deceased had affiliation with Lyari gang of Arshad Papu and rival gang of Baba Ladla operatives were behind the killing of the deceased.
A man was killed in the remit of Pak Colony police station. Police said that the deceased Shamim Ahmed was sitting near his residence where gunmen riding a motorbike reached and targeted him. The victim sustained multiple bullet wounds and was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi where he succumbed to his injures during treatment. Assailants threw a shot dead body within the remit of Garden police station.
Police said that the assailants abducted the victim and later shot him twice after torture and threw his shot dead body near Chand More, Jubli and managed to flee. The body of the deceased was shifted to morgue for identification after autopsy.
Meanwhile, two drug peddlers were gunned down and another wounded in firing took place within the remits of Khokharapar police station.
Police said that three alleged gangsters namely Muhammad Aslam, Nadeem and Anwar were sting at Muslimabad, Malir when motorcyclists came and sprayed bullets on them. They later managed to escape while the injured were taken to the hospital where Aslam and Nadeem were succumbed to injuries while admitted Anwar with critical wounds.
