PESHAWAR - Livestock Department set up five more vaccination points for the elimination epidemic and common diseases in domestic animals in flood-hit areas, officials said on Thursday.

Dr Umar Khan district Livestock officer said that the govt was committed to meeting the challenges of recent wet spell in the region.

He was speaking on the inauguration ceremony of vaccination points set up at five more union councils.

The ceremony, which among others was attended by elders of the area and officials of local agriculture department. Dr Khan informed participants that recent flash flood also caused outbreak of several diseases among the   household animals besides inflicting upon public infrastructure and routine public affairs as well.

He told that generally at present the flood-hit area was faced with various types of  ailments of the animals, and adding which were turning epidemic in some areas, the reports coming from different areas suggested, he said.

The livestock official assured all out possible measures for the elimination of these epidemics and added that for this purpose the higher-ups of Live-stock department had directed the subordinate offices to set up extra vaccination points particularly in rural and urban areas of the flood hit regions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
