LAHORE - Following the PML-N’s rejection of National Commission on new provinces, the PPP has decided to launch a mass mobilisation campaign in the southern region to build public opinion against the ruling party in Punjab for what it believes its dual standards on the issue.

The PPP cadres in south Punjab have been instructed to take out rallies, hold corner meetings and news conferences against the PML-N leadership for its alleged moves to sabotage the process for creation of a separate province.

Leader of the Opposition, Raja Riaz issued these instructions to members of his parliamentary party the other day after the Speaker prorogued the Assembly session amid strong protest by the Opposition. Shah Rukh Khan, a PPP legislator from Bahawalpur has been assigned the task to coordinate with party office bearers for the purpose. The opposition leader had also nominated Mr Khan to represent the Opposition in the National Commission on new province, but the Speaker did not entertain his recommendation.
