Three Health Dept officials booked

FEROZEWALA - An Anti-Corruption Establishment got registered case against three Health Department officials due to their alleged involvement in embezzlement of funds in millions of rupees.
The accused ex-EDO Dr. Zafar Iqbal Khokhar, ex-District Health Officer Dr. Munir Ghouri and former Medical Superintendent Dr. Yousaf Kazmi had misappropriated funds against dengue spray and polio vaccine.
On the directives of Secretary Health Arif Nadeem the Anti- Corruption Establishment Deputy Director Kasur would probe into the matter to submit a report.  According to an initial departmental report, the said officials had misappropriated funds in dengue spray and polio vaccine.
Protest against loadshedding: Scores of women led by Umeed Welfare Foundation Chairperson Benish Qamar Dar, took out a protest rally against 16 hours unscheduled loadshedding and massive encroachments in the City especially in main bazaar on Thursday.
The protesters marched on various City roads and reached in front of Press Club.
Benish Qamar Dar while talking to media said that present rulers and City administration had made their lives entirely miserable.
More than 16 hours electricity outages not only spoiled their children academic career but also their routine lives, she said.
On the other hand due to district administration’s negligence the encroachers had occupied every road and bazaar of the City, she added.  She demanded end to loadshedding as soon as possible.  The district administration should take punitive steps to end the encroachments, she  said.
Cash, gold ornaments looted: Four unidentified highway robbers deprived wagon passengers of cash, ornaments and other valuables worth thousands.
According to details, the robbers in guise of passengers boarded the Sangla bound wagon. As the vehicle reached near Butter stop they on gun-point looted the valuables.
The victims accompanied with other wagons passengers protested and blocked the traffic for two hours.  Farooqabad police assured the protesters to arrest the criminals.
