RAWALPINDI – Robbers and dacoits injured a person on resistance and looted gold worth million of rupees, mobile phones, cash, arms and other valuables in three major hits in the city on Thursday.

Police, as usual, could not even thwart any single robbery attempt or handcuff outlaws, something seeking strong attention of City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokher.

In a daring daylight house robbery incident, five unknown robbers stormed into the house of Ms Ramzan, mother of Zia-ur-Rehman who runs Ahmed Jewellers on Benazir Bhutto Road, at B-Block, in the limits of Police Station Banni, and locked all the inmates in a room at gunpoint. Later, the intruders collected 50 tolas of gold, Rs 150,000 cash, mobile phones and a pistol and ran away. Police registered case against the robbers on the complaint of the victim lady.

Three dacoits injured a sales man in a shop at Jahangir Road in Sir Syed Chowk, the area of PS Waris Khan, by firing a bullet into his abdomen when he offered resistance. However, the nearby shopkeepers rushed to the scene after hearing the firing while the robbers fled. PS Waris Khan filed a case against the muggers on the complaint of owner of the shop former Jammat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Rawalpindi Haroon Rasheed.

Similarly, three unidentified robbers barged into the house of one Zahoor Hussain at Gulraiz, the precinct of PS Airport and made off with British Pounds worth Rs 400,000, digital camera and wrist watches. Police lodged FIR against the robbers with no arrest so far.

Following the footsteps of armed robbers and dacoits, the auto-theft gang also came into action by stealing a car and three motorcycles from different localities of the city.

As per details, a car bearing registration number LXR-9723 owned by Zahid Mehmood and motorcycle (IDK-5353) of Mazhar Ahmed were picked up by vehicle lifters from the limits of PS Banni whereas Islam Zaman’s applied for motorbike has been lifted in the precinct of PS New Town. From the limits of PS Sadiqabad, the auto-theft gang had taken away a motorcycle SGN-7046 of Zulfiqar Ahmed.

On the complaints of the victims, police registered cases and started investigation.
