LAHORE - PML-Q Punjab president Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi Sunday demanded the resignation of all the four provincial members of the Election Commission.
Talking to media at his residence, Pervaiz said the incumbent provincial members have lost the trust of the political parties and should resign without further delay. New members should be selected by taking on board all the political parties to take up the task of upcoming by-elections and local bodies’ polls in Punjab.
PML-Q leader said: “It is the unanimous decision of my party that it will not become part of any electoral exercise in the presence of incumbent members of the Commission, as transparent conduct of polls cannot be held under their supervision.”
He asked all the heads of other political parties to ponder upon this serious issue in an effort to join hands for reforming the electoral process to guarantee transparent polls.
All the political parties complained rigging after the 2013 general elections and given their inputs to the Judicial Commission. He proposed all the political parties should boycott any electoral exercise if the polls would be supervised by the same election officials who conducted 2013 polls.
