ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has maintained a stay order on a notification issued by Election Commission (EC) in the respecting of joining a party by five independent councillors elected in Local Bodies polls from Bannu .

A division bench of IHC comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Athar Minullah took up the case for hearing today.

Dr Babar Awan appeared on behalf of the petitioners while Kamran Murtaza advocate represented JUI-F.

Advocate Kamran Murtaza sought time from the court for filing reply. The court accepted his plea and sought reply from the parties concerned.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till September, 30.

Five independent candidates including Mir Khan, Najib Ullah, Zafar Shah, Waqar Khan and Gulfar Khan took the plea in their petition that they were elected as independent councillors in LB polls on May, 30 and they joined PTI but EC issued their notification as having joined JUI-F against their consent.
