LAHORE - Pakistan Muslim League-Q President Shujaat Hussain is holding the first formal meeting with estranged Nawaz-Leaguer Sardar Zulfikar Ali Khosa at the former’s house today (Monday).

The meeting of the political pair is part of efforts to get together the groups of Muslim Leagues. The duo drifted apart after the 1999 coup of Gen (r) Perverz Musharaf that gave birth to Shaujat’s Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid.

The PML-Q has been up for reunification of Muslim Leagues since January. It has already met PML-F chief, Musharraf’s APML leaders and another 50 lawmakers of the ruling party.

The ruling party parliamentarians want the PML-N without incumbent leadership and Zulfikar Khosa is one of them.

A meeting with Zulfikar Khosa, who has great influence in South Punjab, will be the first formal move of the leaguers opposing Nawaz League.

For the purpose, Shujaat has already met Pir Pagara, Pervez Musharraf and the angry PML-N leader Ghous Ali Shah.

According to the power-share plan, Musharraf will head the would-be league as chairman, PML-Q will lead the possible Muslim League alliance in Punjab and will hold key positions in the central leadership, PML-F to head Sindh, APML to hold pillars in Gilgit-Baltistan.

However, the decision on positions in Khyber Pukhtunkhawa and Balochistan is yet to be made.

The position below the chairman is most likely to be grabbed by the PML-Q, PML-Functional, while senior positions can be given to KP and Balochistan if notable political figures join in. But with the joining of the Khosas and other estranged PML-N leaders in Punjab, power sharing can be reviewed.

Sheikh Rasheed, head of Awami Muslim League and Ijazul Haq head of PML-Zia, choose to stay away from the development.
