MIRPUR (AJK) - As AJK has the potential of generating 20,000 megawatts, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider has directed Power Development Organisation (PDO) to start more power generation projects to meet the electricity needs. He was addressing a meeting of the State Electricity Department in the AJK’s capital city the other day.

Electricity and Power Development Organization Secretary Fayyaz Ali Abbasi briefed the Prime Minister about the ongoing and the upcoming hydropower projects in various parts of AJK.

The meeting also discussed the prevailing issues of electricity including loadshedding, rehabilitation and resettlement of reset of the Mangla Dam Raising affectees and the pace of progress on the ongoing power projects.

He further advised Abbasi to sort out pending issues related to Mangla Dam Raising Project, rehabilitation of Mangla dam affectees and the power loadshedding in AJ&K. he praised the AJK Secretary Electricity for achieving stipulated revenue targets during the fiscal year in Azad Jammu Kashmir.
