ECP completes door-to-door verification of votes

Multan-Over one hundred thousand new voters have been registered in Multan as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) completed the door to door verification of voters in the district, The Nation has learnt.
The ECP sources said that the ECP was going to set up 54 display centres in Multan district where the newly established voter lists will be displayed. “The centres will start functioning from September 20 and they will remain functional till October 10. The citizens can check their votes at these centres,” sources added. The citizens will also be given vote verification and correction facilities at these centres.
It may not be out of place to mention here that the verification process had begun from the first week of August and the staff acquired from education department went door-to-door to verify the voters. Sources added that besides registration of new voters, the names of over 6,000 deceased voters were also removed from the lists during this process. The staff also verified the voters, who had changed their addresses.
THREE NEW MEPCO SUB-DIVISIONS
The Board of Directors of Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) approved on Monday three new Operation Sub Divisions to facilitate consumers. The Mepco sources said that the new Sub Divisions have been named as Operation Sub Division Madrassah (Bahawalnagar), Operation Sub Division Choti (Dera Ghazi Khan) and operation Sub Division Sangam (Dera Ghazi Khan). Sources added that at least 206 new officers and workers would be appointed at the newly established sub divisions.
The Mepco authority has issued notification for the establishment of new sub divisions.

The notification revealed that Bahawalnagar First, Model Town, City Chishtian and Satellite Town sub divisions were bifurcated to constitute Madrassah sub division. A total of 61 officers and workers have been appointed in the new sub division. Similarly, the Kot Chutta sub division was divided into to two to set up Choti sub division with staff strength of 74. The DG Khan Quetta Road sub division was also cut into two operational wings and the new sub division was given the name of Sangam sub division. The Mepco authority has approved appointment of 71 officers and workers here.
