ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected a petition filed to declare speaker National Assembly (NA) Sardar Ayaz Saddiq unqualified over contempt of court.

The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) has said that lot has been spoken about on the media and notice could not be taken on everything. The CEC rejected the petition on grounds of lack of concrete evidence.

The petition was filed in the ECP by a Professor named Waheed who had argued in the petition that the Speaker NA Ayaz Sadiq threatened the ECP talking to the media that contempt the institution, adding that overdoing contempt of national institution, the Speaker be declared unqualified.

The CEC said that lot of talks happened in the media and notice could not be taken on everything and the CEC rejected the petition over not providing concrete evidences for the petition.
