Iran allows women to participate in motocross

TEHRAN: Iran's Motorcycle and Automobile Federation has allowed Iranian women to take part in motocross races in the country, local media reported on Wednesday.

"We hope to see the Iranian women in the country's championships. It can pave the way for our women to participate in the world championships," said Mahmoud Seydanlou, the head of the federation.

"Talented women in Iran are interested in taking part in the motocross races and we are happy to facilitate their participation in the competitions," Iranian media quoted Seydanlou as saying.

According to Tehran Times, Iranian state-run television rarely broadcast women's sports events, although many Iranian women are avid sports enthusiasts and practitioners.
