Multan-The Multan Metro will run on a green environment-friendly route as over 200,000 saplings will be planted underneath the 12.5 kilometre long elevated track, disclosed metro sources.

The plantation is already underway and about 100,000 saplings have already been planted. Metro sources added that the 12.5 kilometre long flyover had 462 spans underneath it and the plantation was being done in these patches. The metro authority is also doing plantation along the carriage way and the plants which develop into middle-sized trees are being planted after every 15 foot. Similarly, a plan to plant date trees at Chowk Kumharanwala is also on the cards. Metro authority hopes that the plantation will help decrease the temperature of Multan.

Meanwhile, the installation of fountains at Chowk Daulat Gate and Northern by-pass Chowk Bosan Road has been completed. The fountains added beauty to the metro route and the metro authority said that the metro route would be made the most beautiful road of the town.
