With the aim to provide quality education at each and every doorstep, the announcement by the Punjab government to set up high schools for girls in each union council in the province particularly south Punjab is welcoming. Besides, the government has planned to construct 35,000 new class rooms in all 36 districts of the province. Moreover, appointment of 75,000 new teachers this year is also on the cards. All this brings to light efforts by the government to promote education. However, more needs to be done as in addition to classrooms, libraries and facilities for extra-curricular activities should also be provided to students in order to promote healthy activities. It is hoped that the move will help increase the enrolment target and result in the provision of better education facilities to students in the province.
