PVTC trained 0.61m people

Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC) provides demand-driven vocational training to youth across the province and its 284 vocational training institutes are working in every district and tehsil, playing their role in poverty alleviation. PVTC PR and Marketing Manager Bushra Nawaz said at a media briefing that at present around 84,000 men and women across Punjab are getting vocational training in 92 different fields. The briefing was supported by TVET Sector Support Prorgramme (GIZ) supported by Germany, EU and Norway's governments. Bushra Nawaz said collaboration with industry for curriculum up gradation and staff & teachers training are the pillars of success for PVTC. Answering a question, she said in 300 schools of the education department computer literacy programmes are being conducted by the PVTC. She also briefed about the competency-based training conducted with the support of TVET sector Support Programme that the PVTC, after the success of CBT&A in Europe and other countries, has initiated in different VTIs with the coordination of industry and chambers. This programme has been gradually expanding every day and its scope will be increased in the coming years. She further said that the Punjab Vocational Training Council has provided vocational training to 610,814 men and women in different demand-driven trades. According to an independent research, conducted by Planning and Development Department, 82 per cent PVTC graduates are earning handsome amounts through various jobs or self-employment. –Staff Reporter
