Citizens see officials’ connivance in killer syrup’s episode

GUJRANWALA - Another person is reported to have died from the consumption of ‘intoxicating’ cough syrup on Sunday, taking the toll to 45 in five days across the province.
On the other hand, the public accused the authorities concerned of indifference towards the grave issue.
Reportedly Manzoor, a resident of Bilal Road died from the consumption of killer syrup in Civil Hospital. The citizens smelt involvement of drug inspectors in the entire saga that has gulped 45 lives. They were of the view that how could one sell such cough syrups ‘famous for addiction’ without taking them (officials) onboard, adding that it was the frequent deaths that proved blessings in disguise and unfolded the episode otherwise the Health Department officials had nothing to do with the public health or interest.
