LAKKI MARWAT - Elders of Darra Pezu Town have warned Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl MPA Naseer Muhammad Khan Maidadkhel to avoid creating obstacles in launching work on the project of setting up Pezu degree college.

They warned that the area people otherwise would launch a protest campaign against him.

The warning was issued at a meeting held in Pezu city on Sunday wherein residents from adjacent villages and hamlets also participated. ANP’s district general secretary Fazal Rahim Khan, former naib nazim Haji Muhammad Khursheed, Haji Ahmad Jan, Pir Amanullah Zakori, Ghulamud Din and Ahmad Saeed were also in the attendance. They said that on the request of ANP local leadership and taking into longstanding demand of area people into consideration Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti approved college project for Darra Pezu town during a visit to the district few months back.

“Now the project has been made controversial by MPA Naseer Muhammad Khan on site selection issue”, they maintained.

They said that the JUI-F lawmaker wanted to establish the boy’s degree college near Wanda Banochi in Masha Mansoor union council.

“The site proposed by MPA is not feasible as it is situated at a distance of 10 kilometres from Pezu city”, they added. They revealed that elders and residents of the town were not in favour of setting up the college at such a far distance place.

They said that the college had been approved for Pezu Town so area people would resist any move to shift it to any other place or union council.

They said that a vast tract of land was available near Pezu city so the provincial government should direct quarters concerned to build the college’s building there. “MPA Naseer has no role to include the project in provincial annual developmental programme nor funds meant for his uplift schemes will be spent on it”, they said.  They urged the lawmaker to bow before the aspirations and wishes of area people and give a green signal to the authorities concerned for launching work on the college project near Pezu city.
