KARACHI - Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said on Sunday that the assemblies would complete their terms and then caretaker set-up would be formed to hold general elections within 90 days.The ruling Pakistan People’s Party believed in fair elections, he said, asserting that all hurdles in the way of smooth polls would be removed. Khuhro was talking to the media after offering condolences to former National Assembly speaker Elahi Bux Soomro on the death of his son.The PPP-led government, Khuhro said, had appointed an impartial chief election commissioner with the consensus of opposition parties for fair elections in the country. He made clear that the government would never accept any hurdle or conspiracy in the way of next general elections. Meanwhile, Khuhro also met with MQM leader Anees Ahmed Qaimkhwani and offered condolences on the death of his father. The speaker expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Qaimkhwani’s father, and prayed that may Allah rest his soul in peace. Later, Khuhro went to the place of late Prof Ghafoor Ahmed, a Jamaat-e-Islami leader and condoled his death with his son. He expressed grief over the sad demise of the veteran politician. Khuhro said that his services for restoration of democracy in the country will always be remembered. He prayed that may Allah rest his soul in peace.
