Lakki elders warn lawmaker of protests if college project shelved

 LAKKI MARWAT - Elders of Darra Pezu Town have warned Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl MPA Naseer Khan Maidadkhel to avoid creating obstacles in launching work on the project of setting up Pezu degree college.They warned that the area people otherwise would launch a protest campaign against him.The warning was issued at a meeting held in Pezu city on Sunday wherein residents from adjacent villages and hamlets also participated. ANP’s district general secretary Fazal Rahim Khan, former naib nazim Haji Muhammad Khursheed, Haji Ahmad Jan, Pir Amanullah Zakori, Ghulamud Din and Ahmad Saeed were also in the attendance. They said that on the request of ANP local leadership and taking into longstanding demand of area people into consideration Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ameer Haider Khan Hoti approved college project for Darra Pezu town during a visit to the district few months back.“Now the project has been made controversial by MPA Naseer Muhammad Khan on site selection issue”, they maintained.  They said that the JUI-F lawmaker wanted to establish the boy’s degree college near Wanda Banochi in Masha Mansoor union council.“The site proposed by MPA is not feasible as it is situated at a distance of 10 kilometres from Pezu city”, they added. They revealed that elders and residents of the town were not in favour of setting up the college at such a far distance place.They said that the college had been approved for Pezu Town so area people would resist any move to shift it to any other place or union council.They said that a vast tract of land was available near Pezu city so the provincial government should direct quarters concerned to build the college’s building there. “MPA Naseer has no role to include the project in provincial annual developmental programme nor funds meant for his uplift schemes will be spent on it”, they said. Man arrested for festive fire killing 1, injuring 3: Police arrested a man for opening festive firing in a football ground to celebrate match winning in Naserkhel village that killed a man and wounded three others on Sunday.  The final match of Younas Memorial Football Tournament was played between Naseer and Farman Clubs. As soon as the match was decided and Farman Club beat the rival team by 1-0, celebratory firing started in the ground.  Villagers and game lovers who were present there to watch the final match started running for safety. Police said that they seized a klashnikov rifle from the arrested the accused identified as Meharban. “Four people were rushed to civil hospital Naurang after they were hit by bullets in celebratory firing”, they told.  They said that one of wounded men identified as Raza Khan was pronounced dead while three others including Noman, Bayaz and Salahud Din were admitted to the hospital.  “Investigation has been started into the incident after registration of case in Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station of Serai Naurang town”, they added.
