AHMEDPUR EAST - Former MPA Tahir Bashir Cheema who recently joined the PML-N reportedly avoided attending the Punjab Chief Minister public meeting in Head Rajkan the other day.

On the other hand, his elder brother former Bahawlpur district nazim and PML-Q Central Vice President Tariq Bashir Cheema has launched his mass contact campaign to contest for NA seat against PML-N MNA Chaudhry Saud Majeed in the upcoming general elections.

Earlier, the PML-N sources had claimed that Tahir Bashir Cheema who was the PML-N expected candidate from Chistian NA constituency would travel with the Punjab CM to attend the public meeting in Head Rajkan, Yezman, but he did not turn up.

It is to be noted that both Tariq Bashir Cheema and Tahir Bashir Cheema are residents of Yezman while leading businessman Chaudhry Abdul Majeed’s family is their old political rival. Chaudhry Majeed’s son Saood Majeed is the sitting PML-N MNA who had defeated Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in 2008 general elections with the support of Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi would now face the PML-Q candidate Tariq Bashir Cheema in the upcoming general elections while his grandson Saad Masood is aspirant for the PML-N ticket from PP-276 Yezman.

Governor VISIT: Punjab Governor Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood will arrive in Dera Nawab Sahib on January 3, reliable sources informed.

He will meet Bahawalpur National Awami Party Chairman Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi in Sadiq Garh Palace to discuss the movement for the restoration of Bahawalpur provincial status and matters of mutual interest. It is to be noted that both Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi and Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood have been the leading the movement for restoration of Bahawalpur provincial status and their respective political parties the BNAP and PML-F Punjab have forged an electoral alliance in March this year.
