HAFIZABAD - Hundreds of workers engaged with small power looms have been rendered jobless by the ever-increasing duration of electricity loadshedding over the past two weeks.

Power Looms Workers Union President Muhammad Zaman Ansari has protested against the prolonged and unscheduled power loadshedding which has deprived the workers of their bread-and-butter.

He appealed to the Gepco chief to take pity on the poor and reduce the duration of loadshedding.

The rationalisation of power loadshedding schedule would help the industry cope with the situation and the labourers to earn a respectable living,” he suggested. He also demanded the government to live up to the challenge of energy crisis and take measures on war-footings to save the industry from total collapse.
